Artist Statement

I paint with oils and acrylics. My art is influenced by the small, fleeting moments of beauty in my life, and my creative process is full of energy and intensity. I paint to the rhythm of loud, upbeat music to tune out my thoughts and to bring a little joy into my painting practice. Often, I dance along.

Painting is how I celebrate this adventurous, mysterious, beautiful life!

Artist Bio

Aslinn grew up among the fir trees and wild roses of Portland, Oregon. Her love for visual art began as a child when she would borrow fairytales from the library and marvel at the beautiful illustrations. She has been painting since she was about eight years old.

Aslinn’s curiosity about the world grew as she entered high school. She was drawn to the study of different cultures, philosophies and religions. She wanted to break open her small worldview and explore the diverse ways that people have found meaning and purpose in their lives.

She pursued this passion in college and earned a degree in religious studies with a minor in philosophy from the University of Oregon. She eventually taught World Religions at Mt. Hood Community College for several years, and her art and life continue to be influenced by the wisdom traditions of the world.

These days Aslinn attempts to balance raising three kids, a full-time job, a sailing hobby, and making art. Her painting practice is the gift she gives to herself-a lifelong adventure of mastering a skill and following a calling that continues to fascinate, inspire, and give her life meaning
